Whitening Strip

Keeping teeth from yellowing is a goal that many of us have, especially those of us who drink tea, coffee and red wine. Smokers have a real challenge to face when it comes to whitening teeth. Right now the hottest product on the home dental care market is the whitening strip and for good reason.

I used to smoke about a pack of cigarettes each day. I also drank at least three cups of coffee each day and I drank a couple of glasses of red wine each week. These habits did no service for my teeth, but I did do a relatively good job avoiding too many stains. This came at a cost. I had my teeth professionally whitened each year and it was not cheap.

I discovered the whitening strip option through a television commercial and I now only see my dentist for my six-month cleaning. Even the cleanings are less of a hassle since I started using the whitening strips that are sold over the counter. However, it did take a little time for me to find which brand suited me best.  My teeth are a little sensitive and I found some of the home dental care products to be way too harsh on my mouth. I originally chose a whitening strip that promised results in one week. The one-week product was way more appealing than the other products that took two weeks for the ultimate result because I am, in essence, impatient.

After only one or two days, my gums were irritated and my teeth were extremely sensitive. I could actually feel vibrations in my mouth if music was played at a certain volume. Since I couldn’t use the whitening strip every day, I wound up taking four weeks to finish the package. I did get really good results, but the discomfort and wait were not really worth it.

The whitening strip that worked best for me provides ultimate results in two weeks. I put the strips on twice each day and I usually use them when there is a big event. I find that the product helps me stick to a weight loss plan because I can’t snack while I wear them. I usually put them on during times that I have the urge to snack.  Some people think that the whitening strip is an expensive product, but considering the cost to have my teeth professionally whitened, the cost is actually minimal. It may take a little time to find which home whitening kit is best for you, but once you find your ideal product, you’ll be showing off a big, white grin.
